The show seems to embrace a blend of comic book silliness with a grounded, procedural vibe—think The Wire meets superhero drama. However, it’s clear that Born Again is trying to balance the whimsy of comic books with the gravitas of prestige TV, and while the action may be dialed down, the storytelling still holds promise for what’s to come.

The shift in focus from Daredevil’s midnight heroics to his daily job as a lawyer may alienate some fans, but it provides a new perspective on the character. The program never loses sight of what makes Daredevil special: its dedication to depicting the gritty, unglamorous side of being a superhero in a city that never sleeps. Marvel has created a series called Born Again that claims to be more than just your typical superhero story. It’s about a man who fights to keep his values, despite the influences that pull him in opposite directions—whether crooked politicians or dangerous criminals hiding in the shadows.

While the first two episodes of Born Again are a little slow to start, they create the basis for a potentially rich and nuanced plot. Fans of the previous Daredevil series may need some time to adjust to the new approach, but there is enough evidence to suggest that Born Again is off to a good start. Kimberly Burch, the fiancée of Faster Pussycats lead singer Taime Downe, went overboard while on a Royal Caribbean cruise and is still missing. According to her mother, Carnell Burch, the event happened immediately after Kimberly and Taime had a furious disagreement. During a speech to Congress on Tuesday, former US President Donald Trump insulted Lesotho, calling it a country “nobody has ever heard of,” as he defended his administration’s massive cuts to foreign aid. According to the US embassy in Lesotho, the US has donated about $630 million to the country’s HIV/AIDS fight since 2006. In addition, last year, the United States struck a $300 million agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation to enhance health and crop production in the country.

Despite these efforts, when the Trump administration took office, it terminated more than 90% of US foreign aid, claiming that the funds were better spent on tax cuts than international help. Trump’s stance on Africa has been contentious, since he demonstrated little interest in the continent during his first term, with reports claiming he used a pejorative phrase to describe African immigrants.
